BIRMINGHAM, AL. — EDT Inc announces today that it has been awarded the new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Corridor Project from the City of Birmingham.

The design phase of this project is six months and the construction phase is another twelve months with the ultimate goal being to complete this BRT corridor and have a fully operational system by the start of the 11th Edition of the World Games in 2021 in Birmingham.

The World Games – under the patronage of the IOC - are a quadrennial and multidisciplinary sports event, which showcase 25+ sports, such as Gymnastics, Squash, Sumo and Roller Sports. About 4,500 athletes and officials from approximately 100 countries take part in The World Games. The 10th edition of The World Games will take place in Wroclaw/ Poland from 20 to 30 July 2017.

The Project is approximately ten miles between the east terminal in Woodlawn and the west terminal in Five Points West runing through downtown Birmingham with connectivity to the new Intermodal Station Central Station at Morris Avenue. The City of Birmingham has established the budget of $2.9 million for the design and construction phases of this Project.
