Engineering Design Technologies, Inc. (EDT) provided civil engineering design services for the foundation/site utility and building package for a new student center on the campus of the University of Alabama Birmingham. The 5.5 acre site on one city block will be the future home of a $40 million, 162,000 square feet student center and a greenway.
EDT performed site, grading, utility, erosion control, details and specification design for the project in two separate bid packages. Challenges included narrow utility corridors in the loading area and significant elevation change across the site. Egress for the building occurs on multiple levels.
