Qualifications:

ABOUT US: The firm of 100+ employees in 4 states headquartered in Marietta has completed over $1B of construction - a combination of hard bid, design, design-build and finance-design-build - since its founding over 25 years ago. Specialties include military, environmental research labs and health clinics, infrastructure, municipal capital programs, institutional housing, planning, program management and multiple award task ordered designs or GC work for government, commercial or developer clients. A current program involves over 100 acres of new urban development in Atlanta with a 5-10 year build-out of roads & utilities, commercial & multi-family residential (mid-rise) and planned open space. Projects handled by individual PMs range from $50k to $40M, with scheduled durations of up to 48 months when phased.

We offer hands-on management during all phases of construction projects from estimating, scheduling, design and buy-out. PM’s set up subcontracts or self-perform scopes including coordinating workers, material and equipment to achieve core objectives of safety and quality within budget and schedule. Each PM is empowered to direct the day-to-day activities of their work in the construction group, reporting directly to the Director of Construction and Ownership. Managers participate in setup of efficient procedures to automate and lead others in a flexible Design-Build environment, extending current strengths to enhance the company’s reach, scope and effectiveness. Rotating responsibilities allow efficient handling of phases and opportunities suggested by current strengths and demonstrated understanding of next-level tasks, fostering an entrepreneurial outlook and ensuring that continuing education and certifications are supported and integrated within the enterprise. Safety, QC, financial and contract administration expertise/literacy are common goals encouraged among all employees.

  • 5+ years of experience primarily in vertical, non-residential construction with demonstrated expertise understanding the Design/Build or the Design-Bid-Build delivery models (one or both.)
  • Experience managing construction projects under US Army Corps of Engineers is highly desired.
  • Graduate of a four-year degree program in construction management or building construction science or equivalent 10+ years’ experience. (New) Graduate engineers or architects will also be considered if they have additional training and demonstrated experience in business administration and accounting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Fluency with collaborative management software, financial systems, construction contract administration or some related IT integrated PM solution (current or recent) is typical for a candidate. The firm’s IT solutions are evolving quickly and may include company-wide transition to a recent market entry  (ProCore, NewForma or PlanGrid.) RMS3.0 is used on USACE projects, but not exclusively.

Responsibilities:

The Construction Project Manager will collaborate with executive and administrative team members to optimize project-specific goals including team-building with developers and investors, maximizing financial returns, minimizing risk, executing high-quality deliverables on-time and within budget while earning sought-after institutional ratings in regulated environments, such as US Army Corps of Engineers contracting and QC/inspection regimens, City of Atlanta Building and Zoning code enforcement, regional NPDES environmental compliance, always in the context of multi-discipline, project-specific design and construction partnerships and bonded or in-house financed design & construction.

Over the next five years the firm expects to triple its commercial bonding capacity while continuing to partner with large firms that benefit from our existing vertical integration, marketing and reputation. The firm has projects from Baltimore to San Antonio, with concentrations in Atlanta, Greenville, Birmingham, North Florida and the FL panhandle (Tyndall, Eglin AFBs). Major government clients include Fulton, DeKalb and Cobb Counties, US EPA and numerous small municipalities.

  • Manages CM and Program/MATOC pursuits through timely input of construction knowledge, market understanding and opportunity assessment.
  • Develop and support cost-effective plans and schedules for completion of projects utilizing in-house or supplemented resources.
  • Scope and assign subcontractors during buyout.
  • Assist in building robust vendor/sub relationships.
  • Reviews architectural and engineering drawings to ensure (Subcontractor) compliance with contract documents and regulations.
  • Administer construction contracts and ancillary requirements.

  • Supervise Field Staff, reviews their progress, troubleshoot reported difficulties and correct reported deficiencies through quality acceptance.
  • Tracks and controls schedule and costs in collaboration with CFO and A/P Staff.
  • Reports to clients in weekly, bi-weekly progress meetings or as required for government or private clients.
  • Reports weekly to company leadership on status of projects.
